The holidays can be a tough time for families caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease. Westside Terrace Healthcare has joined an effort to provide them some relief and little holiday cheer.
Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama is a non-profit organization for Alzheimer’s patients, caregivers and professionals. They have created Christmas Dinner Care Baskets to deliver to the families they serve. Each basket includes food for a Christmas meal: ham, vegetables, fruit, and dessert. They also added extra goodies such as food staples and snacks. Westside Terrace sponsored baskets for eight families.
“When a loved one has dementia, even ordinary days can be a challenge.” Administrator Kristie Hughes said. “We’re grateful to help families have one less thing to worry about this year.”
